It seems these days that the medical field is making huge technological advances every day. People are living longer, but are we living healthier lives? Today we have an epidemic, not of measles or polio, but of autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities. We have an epidemic of asthma, allergies, and autoimmune disorders. There is chronic fatigue, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and much more. Have our technological advances come with a price? Let’s look at nutrition first. Small farms once produced food locally. Now we have huge factory farms and our food is shipped long distances before it reaches our tables. Many families rely heavily on processed convenience foods and takeout, eating on the run to keep up with the pace of our busy lives. Store shelves are now lined with genetically modified foods that are indistinguishable by the label from non-GMO foods. Our soils are depleted of nutrients, producing foods with less nutritional value than they had just a few years ago. Even organically grown produce can be affected by soil depletion. Most of the animals raised for food are no longer fed a natural diet, nor are they raised humanely. Are we really getting what our bodies need each day? At the same time as our bodies suffer for lack of the proper nutrients; we are bombarded constantly with chemicals. Our air and water are polluted, factories release mercury and other toxic materials into the environment, crops are sprayed with chemicals and pesticides, and animals are fed antibiotics and hormones. Our drinking water is treated with chlorine and fluoride, both of which have deleterious effects, including displacing iodine from the thyroid gland. Pharmaceutical companies offer their solution for every possible symptom, but are they safe? Dentists fill cavities with mercury fillings, a substance too hazardous to dispose of legally in their trashcan when it is removed. Store shelves are lined with highly toxic chemicals intended for use in the home. What are the effects of all these toxins on our health and well being, fetal development, and learning ability? The good news while you might not be able to have an immediate effect on what you are exposed to outside your home, there are things you can do to protect yourself from the onslaught. You can buy locally produced and/or organic fruits, vegetables, and grains. You can find local farmers that raise animals humanely and feed them a natural diet. There are highly effective products to clean your home without exposing your family to toxic chemicals or releasing them into the environment. You can treat your drinking water by filtration or reverse osmosis to remove harmful substances. You can improve the air quality in your home. Good quality nutritional supplements can improve your health and well being without the side effects of drugs. You can find holistic health care practitioners and even dentists. There are so many more resources available for those that want to live naturally than there were just 10 or 20 years ago. We offer many of the items you need for a healthy family and and healthy home. We would be pleased to assist you in making your future and your children's future a healthier, happier one. |
